A few background activities are launched when a client connects to the server in order to maintain the connection and handle incoming events. The main thread's programme is free to carry out any task because doing so won't interfere with the Socket.IO client's ability to function.


Static file delivery to clients can be configured on the Socket.IO server. When using this package without a partner web framework, it is especially helpful to send HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files to clients.

Each key/value pair in a Python dictionary that is used to customise static files is a mapping rule for a static file. The simplest version of this dictionary comprises one or more URLs for static files as keys and the server files that correspond to those files as values:
